We are excited to announce that we now offer mystery shopper payments through Venmo! Previously, shoppers only had the option of receiving payments for their shops through PayPal; however, our software partner, iSecretShop, now has capabilities to pay our network of mystery shoppers using Venmo.
Below are the steps you should follow to ensure your account is properly set up to receive payment for your mystery shopping job, depending on the payment app you prefer.
If you would like to receive your shopper payments through PayPal, log into your iSecretShop account and click ‘update extended profile’ on the left side menu. Scroll down to Preferred Payment Method and select PayPal from the drop-down menu. Once done, scroll down further and enter your PayPal email in the text box next to ‘PayPal email.’ Please note PayPal.me links are not permitted. Once entered, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click the blue button that says, ‘Save Extended Profile.’
You will want to ensure that your PayPal account is confirmed and properly set up to receive and transfer funds. We have had several instances of sending money, only to have the payments come back as unclaimed or denied, which prevents you from being paid on time. Please note that for any mystery shopper jobs done outside the USA, PayPal is the only method available at this time.
If you would like to set up the Venmo app as your preferred payment method, you would log into your iSecretShop account and click on ‘update extended profile’ on the left side menu. Select Venmo next to Preferred Payment Method. Next, enter the phone number associated with your Venmo account. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click the blue ‘Save Extended Profile’ button. Make sure your Venmo account is properly set up to receive funds and have them transferred to your bank account and that the phone number you have entered into your ISecretShop profile matches the phone number associated with your account.
As a reminder, our payment terms are 25 days, meaning you will be paid within 25 days of when you complete an in-person or web mystery shop. If it goes past 25 days, please reach out to the Shopper Help Desk, and we would be happy to look into it further for you. In most cases, we find that there is an issue with your account setup preventing payment from going through. We are here to troubleshoot those issues for you to ensure you are paid timely for the shops you complete correctly and are up to standard within our system.
Our obligation as the Mystery Shop Provider is to issue payments within the agreed-upon timeframe. However, it’s your responsibility as the Independent Contractor to ensure your iSecretShop account is properly set up, all provider contracts and policies are signed, and that your PayPal or Venmo account does not have any issues that would prevent you from accepting the funds.
